Preparing For Yet Another Storm. This time It’s Snow.

The Weather Channel is calling this upcoming winter snow storm the worst it will record in 86 years. Brilliant. Ninety-nine people died in that historic snow storm.  What is going to happen to us when this storm hits?  I don’t even want to think about it.

We’re busy preparing as best as we can.  Freezing temperatures, blizzard-like winds and biting cold can cause an awful lot of havoc.  I am just hoping and praying our electricity doesn’t go out.  But, it probably will.

DH and I have made a pledge to ourselves that this winter is going to be our last in the northeast.  Next year, (God willing) we will be beach bums lounging around in Key West, Florida sipping pina coladas.  We’ve been saving up to buy a micro-mini RV (perfect for 2 adults and a dog) and as soon as we get the cash together, we’ll be gone.

I think this snow storm will be our last deciding factor.  WTF have we been waiting for? (I don’t want to touch our savings BUT…….)

I’ll keep you posted.  Wish us luck.  And if I don’t post in a few days, that’ll mean we lost power.  Ugh.  NOT looking forward to this.

  1. It sounds like a whopper. We are going to just miss it, with the weather forecast being just rain. Make sure you have water and other provisions. But, hey, you still have time, come down and see me!

  2. We are right in the line of fire, so to speak, as well (New England.) I made my DH buy a generator a few years ago-the best purchase ever! After too many winters of being with out electricity for days it has more than payed for itself. I can deal with everything except all of the shoveling. 2-3 feet of snow is just too much. Hope you get through it okay!

  3. Here in the South, we just have rain. We did fill up both cars yesterday just in case gas prices rise even more because of the storm. Sounds like it’s going to be bad for you but you’re prepared so keep safe and warm:).

    • Rebekah,
Some gas stations have already run out of gas, as everyone now has a generator and are filling up their gas tanks. We are supposed to get between 2 and 3 feet of snow. f true, gas trucks may not be able to get here so fast as to refill the gas stations. That may be a problem. Apparently, our improved standard of living has been falling short over the years as more and more of us have become Doomsday Preppers. Hmmmm?
