Seems like everyone has decided this month to raise their rates. My landline bill, that used to be $15 a month for just basic service, has inched its way up to $75 a month. Can’t do it anymore. Especially since no one uses the landline anymore. DH and I speak to everyone over our cell phones. I just kept the landline for security blanket reasons. Time to let it go.
Same thing for our satellite/cable service. What used to cost me $20 a month has now inched up to $60 a month, with more increases scheduled for later on. Nope. Not going to do it. I called and had them reduce me back to just basic service. And I’m glad about that because hubby was spending most of his free time watching such idiotic shows as Lizard Lick Towing, Hardcore Pawn and American Pickers. Pure crap, IMHO! And a total waste of our money.
Sigh. Big Sigh. Big sigh of relief! In both my home AND my pocketbook.
We got rid of both the landline and cable years ago. Don’t miss the landline at all. For entertainment we use free hulu and rent movies from redbox. Works for us and we have kids so I’m sure you will do fine.
Our new flat screen TV already comes internet ready. Since I cancelled landline, was able to up to fastest internet possible. So, yes, it’ll work out just fine. Lots of free stuff over the internet. Woo Hoo!
You know? I think I may have to get rid of my landline too. All I get are solicitors calls and we never use it unless I call out. Unfortunately it is all tied into the cable bill. Come to think of it, that’s a bit high too. I’ll have to see what we can do too! Thanks for the inspiration!!
P.S. Did you get my new link to my blog? it’s midlifemommusings.com. Come visit!

I’ll be there is a sec. Thanks for the heads up!
We dropped the landline awhile ago and I would love to get rid of the satelite TV, but DH is holding out. I am working on it. Baby steps…
baby steps indeed! men!
No cell phone reception here- so we are keeping the land line
neither of our kids have a land line anymore.
My son and his wife are moving here next month. We will keep cable since they will not get. Sunday football at my house;)
You have to do what you have to do, Janette. At least you don’t have an expensive cell phone bill to pay.
