Perhaps you missed it. It wasn’t reported on any news shows. You won’t find it on any front page of any newspaper: digital or otherwise. Just a select, fiscally conservative few, pounced on the January 19th report from the General Accounting Office (GAO), that based on their most recent findings, unless severe cuts are made to the American budget, The United States Of America is on an unsustainable path. In other words, whatever cash you have in a bank, a retirement fund, equity in your home or any other asset you think is worth something, will soon become worthless, if nothing is done to solve our budget crisis.
“Significant actions to change the long-term fiscal path must be taken,” the GAO warned. The report was released amid heated debates between the president and congressional Republicans trying to hammer out a deal over taxes and spending. If no deal is reached, taxes go up and major spending is cut.
The GAO warned that discretionary spending is not the crux of the problem. “Discretionary spending limits [which includes defense spending] alone do not address the fundamental imbalance between estimated revenue and spending, which is driven largely by the aging of the population and rising health care costs.”
After listening to the lame inaugural address President Obama spewed out yesterday, apparently he is more hell bent on achieving Social Justice at any expense, and that, my dear citizens, means you and I have been left out of the equation. Barack Hussein Obama made it perfectly clear to both his audience AND the world that the ‘Age Of Ronald Reagan’ has ended. Obama is the new sheriff in town and what Obama wants, he is going to get, regardless of the circumstances OR the results.
I couldn’t help wondering as I glanced over the attendees in the crowd, how many of them were on government assistance. With 1 in 4 Americans on Food Stamps alone, I wondered if anyone could calculate how many of those individuals who made the trek to Washington, to listen to Obama bash America, as we once knew it, were getting government handouts? For, what is the NEW America now, as compared to Ronald Reagan?
Ronald Reagan believed in a smaller government and getting American citizens jobs. I clearly remember listening to one of Reagan’s speech, as he held up the NY Times want ads declaring that there were jobs and we Americans were to pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps. What does Obama see for our future? Taxing the rich to make us feel better about ourselves? Really? Even if Obama confiscated ALL of the wealthy Americans money, it will only run this government for 6 days. Then what?
Most troubling was the president’s dismissive tone toward the one issue that Washington can no longer avoid: the national debt. Obama’s approach on crippling entitlement growth is more evidence that the man who piled up $6 trillion in debt over one term has no interest in curbing Washington’s reckless spending. Such political cowardice is as dangerous as it is deplorable.
Obama has successfully sought out AND destroyed the Republican party. But because there is no longer a Republican able, willing and competent to stand up to the dictatorship of Barack Obama, doesn’t mean that there isn’t someone else capable to do the job. Our world does not rise and set on only the two political parties. It will just be a simple ‘wait-and-see’. Eventually, Obama and all his social justice policies will crumble. His 62% favorability rating will drop to zero when most on the dole can’t get any more money to buy food, heat their homes, pay the rent, drive their cars, pay their medical expenses or afford their retirement needs.
The Obama administration AND the liberal lame media think that they can fool you. But that’s only some of the time. You and I both know that we are on the path of destruction. We see and feel it each and every day. We see it in our own cost-of-living expenses. Most importantly in our grocery bills. The prices we are paying for basic foods, such as milk, bread, sugar and toilet paper have been consistently going up each and every week. The government may play games with the calculation of the Cost Of Living Adjustments (COLA) by substituting chicken or tofu for red meat, powdered dried milk crystals for natural dairy milk (for a few examples) in order to constrain our cost of living increases. In other words, we’d have to be starving before they admit that inflation is really above the 0% the government is stating currently.
Well then, prepare to starve. Because until we have exhausted our rioting in the streets and are either all dead or near death from hunger, will anything in America for the next four years change? There was no mention of providing any jobs to the 25 million Americans currently seeking work, in Obama’s acceptance speech. There was no mention of the 15% increase in Food Stamp recipients since 2009 (currently 45 million Americans are on Food Stamps. Countless others go to a food pantry at least once per week). All I saw was a man, hell bent on achieving his misguided ideologue forcing current Americans to pay for the sins of America long past.
Ronald Reagan is dead. He was president over thirty years ago. During Reagans’ reign, America was working, prosperous and a shinning beacon to the rest of the world. What are we now? How did we descend? What can we do to restore our place in history?
From what I can see, it’s nothing that we are doing now or in the very near future.
My energy supplier came to my house yesterday. He told me he could only sell me 50 gallons of propane. Why? I asked. Because he simply doesn’t have the money nor the ability to secure any more.
Thanks, Mr. Obama. Your energy policies are brilliant. My supplier, who has been in business for over 107 (one hundred and seven) years is slowly going out of business. And now, I have to scramble to not only find another resource but hope and pray that the next company even has the supply.
Four more years till this insanity is gone. I count the days. All one thousand, four hundred and sixty of them.
Solar power anyone? (which BTW, after I ‘invest’ $100K into solar panels, will only supply me with 10% (ten percent) of my heating/hot water requirements.
Inauguration speeches are supposed to be uplifting…I find this president’s rhetoric gross and petty. For the first time in a long time I am beginning to feel that despair that America is going down a path that many are not prepared for. I would like to say that those who voted for this get what they deserve, but unfortunately we all have to pay the price. The days of real men like Reagan are over-at least politically.
The current admin’s policies are affecting everyone. There is no escape. There is also no Republic anymore. Seems more like a dictatorship. All ruled by executive order.
One day down. One less day. And counting.
